How to Properly Fill a Dumpster

When it comes to filling your open top container, there are few things you should know. First, it is important to evenly fill your dumpster. This means that you do not put everything on one side of the dumpster. An unevenly filled dumpster will not have proper weight distribution and it can cause damage to our trucks. Our dumpsters come with a door on the back of the dumpster to allow for you to walk heavier items inside. This is great for items such as couches and furniture that would be difficult to throw over the top of the dumpster.

Another thing to keep in mind when filling your dumpster is not to overfill the dumpster. When you order your dumpster, our customer service rep will explain the weight limit associated with your container and it is your responsibility not to exceed this weight limit. You must also make sure not overfill the dumpster past the height of the walls of the dumpster. Our drivers are not legally allowed to pick up an overfilled dumpster because it poses a threat to other drivers on the road.

Last but certainly not least, you need to keep an eye on your dumpster because you are responsible for everything inside the container. We often hear from customers who have neighbors who use their dumpsters and throw in prohibited materials. Please do your best to keep out any hazardous or flammable materials. If you have any questions about what can and cannot go into your dumpster, call our office.
